Our initiative is providing financial aid to Vermont youth, enabling them to attend basketball camps and clinics in the state.
Our Mission
For The Love of the Game scholarship fund honors the legacy of Coach Michael Maxwell (Coach Max) by supporting Vermont youth to engage in basketball programs.

Eligibility criteria:

Vermont Residency: Applicants must be residents of Vermont.

Age Requirement: Applicants must be 18 or younger at the time of application.

Commitment to Growth: Applicants should demonstrate a strong desire to continue improving their basketball skills and further their development in the sport.

Good Sportsmanship: A willingness to be a positive teammate, showing respect and collaboration on and off the court.

Financial Need: Preference may be given to applicants who express financial need to attend the camp, though this will not be the sole deciding factor.
Award Information:

Individuals awarded a scholarship will receive a maximum of $800 per camper.

All applications must be submitted by Sunday, April 27th, 2025.

Award recipients will be notified by Sunday, May 4th, 2025.
Note:

All applicants will be considered based on their application materials, including a brief personal statement explaining their goals and aspirations in basketball.

If your child is selected for a scholarship, we will contact you via email to confirm their eligibility.

Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the camp or clinic.

A separate scholarship application must be submitted for each child applying for a scholarship.
About Coach Max

Coach Michael Maxwell of Cabot, Vermont, was a deeply dedicated figure in the world of youth sports, particularly basketball, whose impact continues to resonate long after his passing. For years, he devoted himself to guiding and mentoring local youth athletes, using basketball as a platform to teach invaluable life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Coach Maxwell’s coaching philosophy was rooted in developing character both on and off the court, always encouraging players to strive for their best while fostering a sense of respect for others. His tireless efforts created an environment where young athletes felt supported, valued, and empowered to achieve their personal and team goals. Though Coach Maxwell is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, and the principles he instilled in his players continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be coached by him. His unwavering commitment to youth sports and the development of well-rounded individuals remains a lasting influence in the Vermont sports community.
